Quota-restricted majors

The Immunology, Microbiology and Pharmacology majors have a limited number of places available due to restricted laboratory space. Selection into these majors is based on academic merit.

Students who are selected into a quota-restricted major may not be notifed until late February for semester 1 commencement, and late June for semester 2 commencement. For this reason, students will need to nominate a second major.

Studying two majors

If a student intends to study two majors and the amount of credit awarded for each major is different, the student will be awarded the lower of the two (eg. Singapore Polytechnic Diploma in Biotechnology - Medical Technology studying majors in Genetics and Marine Biology would receive 150 points of credit).

Note: Students may not be able to complete two majors if there are substantial clases with lectures and practical classes.

Diploma in Biotechnology

1 Semester 1 commencement only.
2 Semester 2 commencement only.

Diploma in Biotechnology (Bioinformatics option)

200 points

1 Semester 1 commencement only.
2 Semester 2 commencement only.

Diploma in Biotechnology (Medical Technology option)

200 points 150 points

1. Semester 1 commencement only.
2. Semester 2 commencement only.

Diploma in Medical Technology (General Medical Technology option)

200 points

1 Semester 1 commencement only.
2 Semester 2 commencement only.

150 points

Diploma in Chemical Process Technology (Industrial Chemistry option)
