Cross-institutional courses
A cross-institutional course enrolment allows students to enrol in a subject(s) at another Australian University for credit towards a degree they are completing at their current institution.
Outgoing students
A cross-institutional course enrolment allows students to enrol in a subject(s) at another Australian University for credit towards a degree they are completing at the University of Melbourne. This type of enrolment allows students to undertake study that may not be offered at the University of Melbourne.
Students are permitted to enrol in up to the equivalent of 50 points of study at another institution providing they meet the Faculty of Science requirements. These requirements include:
- maintaining a strong academic record (70% average),
- having successfully completed 75 points of study at the University of Melbourne,
- appropriate subject content, and
- having a sound academic reason for enrolling in the subject.

- Outgoing Evaluation form : PDF : 27KB - must be completed as part of the application for each subject a student applies to enrol in at the host institution.
Incoming students
A or cross-institutional course enrolment allows students to enrol in a subject(s) at the University of Melbourne for credit towards a degree they are completing at their home university.
Students are permitted to enrol in up to 50 points of study at the University of Melbourne providing they meet the Faculty of Science requirements. These requirements include:
- being enrolled in a degree course at an Australian University,
- having a strong academic record (70% average),
- having successfully completed one year of full-time study at their home university of Melbourne, and
- approval from both the University of Melbourne subject co-ordinator and from their home university.
